Canon PIXMA G6050- Reviews- The Canon PIXMA G6050 integrates four ink tanks into a surprisingly compact three-in-one device and comes with generous six bottles of ink in the box. It is enough to print 18 000 black and white pages and 7 700 in color. It has enough room to load 350 sheets of paper and can be easily accessed via USB cable or Wi-Fi with an intuitive smartphone app for cloud printing and scanning. In short, it's well listed for use in a small office that should prove to be many documents and photos.

The Canon PIXMA G6050 looks expensive alongside another inkjet office with more features until you think six bottles of ink (three black and three colors) that come in the box. Take that into account and the Canon PIXMA G6050 looks like an arrangement.

Canon PIXMA G6050 Design

The Canon PIXMA G6050 integrates its four large ink tanks into a surprisingly compact design. There's clearly a design advantage to end up with bulky plastic ink cartridges, as there's a place inside a pretty deep 250-sheet main paper tray. You can load another 100 sheets into the rear tray, and this is where the photo paper and the envelopes should go. 

It is encouraging to see the actual ink levels themselves and not waiting for the printer to tell you that one of your cartridges is empty. The tanks are quite large, so you won't be feeling very often. The main paper box also has clear plastic windows that allow you to see at a glance how much paper is there. 

Unlike Canon's other PIXMA printers, which predominate with large touch-screen colors, the new G series has only two monolines in its control panel. It is a frustrating step back but the necessary victim in order to get the ink tanks while maintaining the costs down. There is no SD card slot or USB front port for the same reason. A4 size bed scanner's top, and if you really don't need a scanner, the more affordable PIXMA G5050 essentially the same machine without a scanner.

Canon PIXMA G6050 Features and Specifications

Being a three-in-one device means you can print, scan and copy. There is no facsimile object, but there are many other key features. It can print both sides of the page automatically, for example, and it can handle all paper sizes in A4 format. This includes glossy paper, envelopes, and label parcels that can be loaded into the rear tray. 

There are USB and Ethernet ports on the back, and with Wi-Fi built-in, you can also connect wirelessly through a network or using Wi-Fi Direct. AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, PictBridge and Canon's own PIXMA cloud links are all available for easy cloud printing. 

The printing resolution is 4800x1200 dpi when scanning on 1200 x 2400, which are sufficiently high resolution and promises to strong copying of functionality. Quoted print speed is rather slow at 13 IPM in mono and only 6 IPM in color. 

So, what are the features missing? Well, there is no ADF (Automatic document feeder) or fax and no NFC connection or flash memory card for photographers. Unfortunately, there is no even the front USB port to print directly from finger Drive either. Too bad there are only four paints available too like other Canon printers often use five or even six colors to compose a photograph. In this case, the black paint is the pigment (not the dye), which is great for text documents, but there is no additional black dye that's best for printing photos. 

Canon PIXMA G6050 Installation Software and Set Up

Setting up the Canon PIXMA G6050 includes the first installation of two thin inkjet cartridges that seems strange to the supposedly cartridge-less system. However, these two little carts don't have to be replaced. 

When in place, you can pour in the ink from the bottle provided. The nozzles are molded so that you can fill each tank up to the top without spilling the blobs. However, one could pour the wrong color into the wrong tank, so be careful. Tanks stopper with a rubber seal, although we would not advise storing this thing on its side if you have to put it back Ins windows with ink in tanks.

In contrast to similar Canon printers, PIXMA TS8050 For example, there is no Installation Wizard to help you connect to the wireless network or print the test pages in order to check the print head alignment. Canon's app's companion will help you connect to Wi-Fi so you can use your smartphone to enter a Wi-Fi password, but it won't give you access to your printer settings. 

Unfortunately, the interface is quite unintuitive compared to most modern printers and the two-line display limits. It is a case where a small display and a bike through a lot of options using two cursor buttons to find and change each setting.

When loading paper in the tray, or sliding a new sheet into the rear tray, the display will ask you to select the type of paper that is a bit tedious using the two cursor buttons and for a couple of cases we had to return the machine and again make it admit that the paper Loaded correctly.

Canon PIXMA G6050 Performance

The Canon PIXMA G6050 prints slowly but steadily, converting mono pages to about 13 pages per minute. It prints pretty softly and text documents look especially crisp and bold. Black pigment ink used well, giving individual characters clear clarity down to very small point sizes. The text pages appear with sequence and quality you can expect from a laser printer, albeit at a much slower rate. And in terms of value on the page, it really works cheaper. 

The colored documents also show good consistency and detail. They appear at an even slower rate of about six pages per minute, and the colors look a bit muted compared to other inkjets, but they are quite acceptable. The photographs, however, do not look too subdued in terms of color. Blues and Reds can be said to be more natural in appearance than many overly bright inkjet printers. However, the green look is slightly washed out and blacks appear pretty gray. The level of detail is high and in other respects, the photo prints to look fine on the photo paper, they simply do not have the color fidelity achieved by five Canon and six-color systems.   

During the test, we tested only one paper jam and were successfully printed on envelopes and stickers without any problems. Two-sided printing is slow but successful and is not limited to the only paper of A4 size. He can also duplex A5 print and B5 pages. 

Scanning documents on the PC is very straight forward and 1200 x 2400 resolution ensures that it is good and sharp. Photocopies of the documents also look very true in terms of details, however, there is a slight softening of color in the copied document.

Apart from luxury, like the NFC connection and front ports for flash memory, the Canon PIXMA G6050 is well featured with a good scanner and automatic duping. The small display is a bit frustrating if you are accustomed to the touch interface and this printer is by no means quick, but it prints up precisely and reliably and the text documents look great. A fine photo prints are also just not as bright as some inkjet printers can drive. The main benefit here then is the refilled tank ink system, which makes inkjet printing much more economical than ever been with cartridges.
