6 Tips for Caring for Men's Hair

Caring for Men's Hair

After cutting your hair and having a male hairstyle that women love, you also need to take care so that your hair stays cool in any situation. In addition, according to Friday Magazine, women also tend to prefer men who can take care of themselves, at least to perform well every day. This self-care is also included in terms of caring for hair, you know. Well, to maintain your health and appearance, Jonathan van Ness - a hairstylist for the Game of Thrones star - has 6 hair care tips for male hair.
1. Do not shampoo too often

Washing too often can make your hair become limp and oily, especially on the scalp. So that your hair does not have excessive oil, it is advisable to wash it with shampoo only 1-2 times per week. Beyond that, it's better to use conditioner in your hair because conditioner tends to not have detergent content and can cleanse hair from dirt and bacteria without increasing oil content on the scalp.
2. Do not shampoo immediately after sweating

Did you know that hair sweat doesn't make your hair dirty? Precisely sweaty hair only contains natural salts and oils produced by the scalp. So, when your hair is sweating it is not the right time to wash with shampoo because, with the right product and method, your hair can actually look thick and well-groomed. Van Ness recommends using dry shampoo and using a hairdryer to dry your sweaty hair.
3. Use a primer or prep spray

For those of you who like to use a gel or pomade on your hair, it's also a good idea to buy a primer or prep spray. The function of this product is to reduce moisture and keep your hair styling more durable. Primer or prep spray also helps maintain the cleanliness of your hair and makes hair look healthier. How to use it is very easy: just spray on wet hair and comb the hair, then let the hair dry naturally.
4. Be careful with ingredients in your hair care products

Some substances in shampoo or other hair care products can actually damage your hair and make your hair limper. Examples of these hair damaging substances include sulfate, alcohol, and parabens. Van Ness advises you to pay attention to the ingredients in the shampoo - if there are many substances in it that are difficult for you to read, it's better to choose another shampoo.
5. Replace your pillowcase with soft material

To keep your hair healthy, also pay attention to the pillowcase material you use to sleep every day. Wrong ingredients can absorb heat on the scalp and make the ends of the hair crack. Van Ness recommends using a soft pillowcase such as silk or satin because the two ingredients do not have a damaging impact on your hair.
6. Use hair products from the back of the head to the front

Whatever product you use - whether gel, pomade, primer or mousse - and whatever treatment you do to your hair, always apply the product and do maintenance starting from the back of the head towards the front. Using hair products in this way will make the product spread evenly so that your hair will look cool from any side.
