How to use the new WhatsApp Account Biometric Security Feature

WhatsApp

WhatsApp has added a new biometric security feature that allows you to restrict people from reading your messages when they are in possession of your phone. The feature is only available for Apple devices for now. The android version is still under
development and should launch soon.

To use the feature, you should upgrade your WhatsApp to the latest version. If you do not have the latest version, log in to your iOS app store and update the app.

How to enable the new WhatsApp Account Biometric Security Feature

To enable the new WhatsApp authentication feature, open your WhatsApp and go to settings. This is found on the road of icons on the bottom of your screen for iOS users.

In the settings, click the "account" menu and go to privacy, you get to see "Require Face ID" option in the screen lock (available for iPhone X, XS, XS Max and XR) while those that use finger print will show "Touch ID" option instead. Enable it and set how long you want the app to lock when you exit it - as shown in the photo below.

It's advisable to use "immediately" but it gets frustrating when you want to check out another app just to head back to unlock your WhatsApp every time.

It should be noted that you can still reply to messages from notifications and answer calls if WhatsApp is locked.

The authentication is useful if you do no want people prying into your WhatsApp contacts, reading your messages. Hopefully, it can get to save a lot of relationships for lovers who keeps secret lovers.
