Types of hard disk drives

Today, I am going to discuss on a very important topic “Types of a hard disk” in this post. I hope you would like this post also.

Types of Computer Hard Disk Drives

They are what we usually use. They perform better for 8 hours a day, are cheaper than others, and can excel and modify backup files fast enough to prevent heavy data loss in case of data corruption.

1).PATA Hard Disk

2).SATA Hard Disk

3).SCSI Hard Disk

4). SSD Hard Disk

1).PATA Hard Disk

The full form of PATA is Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment. These were the first types of hard disk drives and used the Parallel ATA interface standard to connect them to the computer. These types of drives are those we refer to as Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) and Enhanced Integrated Drive Electronics (EIDE) drives.

These Pata Drives were introduced by Western Digital Back in 1986. He provided a common drive interface technology to connect the hard drive and other devices to the computer. Data transfer rates can be up to 133MB / s and maximum 2 devices can be connected to the drive channel. Most motherboards have two channels, so a total of 4 EIDE devices can be connected internally.

They use 40 or 80 wire ribbon cables, so that several bits of data can be transmitted parallel. The data is stored in these drives using magnetism. The internal structure is made of mechanical moving part.Nowadays, PATA hard disks are being replaced by SATA hard disk.

2).SATA Hard Disk

The full for of SATA is Serial Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment. In these hard disks, completely different connectors are used in comparison to PATA. They also require a different power adapter than the IDE, although the adapters are easily available. The main difference between SATA and PATA hard disk is that this is a slim and fast data interface than before. However, both of that rpm spec is similar. ATA drives are more efficient, and use less power.

3).SCSI Hard Disk

SCSI Hard Disk
SCSI Hard Disk

The full for of SCSI is Small Computer System Interface. These are similar to hard disk IDE hard drives. They spin at high rates compared to IDE and SATA. IDE and SATA drives usually spin at 7,200 RPM, while SCSI spreads from 10,000 to 15,000 RPM. Today, speeds of up to 10,000 RPMs are made SATA.The higher the RPM, the data access will be faster, but it can also lead to faster breakdowns. SCSI hard disk requires a controller that operates the interface between drive and computer motherboard.

4). SSD Hard Disk

Solid State Drives

The full form of SSD is Solid State Drives. These hard disks do not have the moving part, unlike other types.SSDs use semiconductor data for storage. Since there are no moving components, these hard disks are very fast and unlikely to break down compared to other drives. However, their price is slightly higher than other hard disks.

Popular Hard Disk Drives Manufacturer

Some of the most popular hard drive manufactures include:
  • Western Digital
  • Seagate
  • Hitachi,
  • Toshiba

Advantages Of Hard Disk

Hard Disk is an important drive for any computer system where we can easily store data, let's see what its benefits.
  • Because of its weight loss and its size is small, it is not difficult to keep it.
  • If your computer has an internal space, then you can increase the storage with the help of this.
  • You will get less than the Hard Disk Internal Disk.
  • In this you will be able to easily transfer large size data from 20GB or 30 GB to easily transfer from one place to another.
  • If there is any kind of problem in your system then you can easily transfer data to it.
