How To Turn On Your Phone If Your Power Button is Bad

I remember when my power button stopped working normally and I became scared of how I will get to switch on or off my phone when the need arises. If you're in the same situation, you don't need to worry, I'm going to explain some few tricks and tips on how you can get to turn on your phone without the use of power button.

If your phone is on

One thing, do not, I repeat, do not let it switch off. Keep it charged always - you can get yourself a power bank.

You can download and install the Power Button To Volume Button App which let you use the volume button instead of the power button.  You can also get to wake up your phone screen when you pick it up by using these apps - Gravity screen, shake screen On Off or Proximity Actions which wake the screen by gestures to the proximity sensors.

Other Tips - You can get to wake up your phone when the screen goes up by enabling the double tap to wake option in your phone settings.

Set an alarm to go off at some specific time every day - this will make some phones to switch on in order to sound the alarm.

You should also enable your pressure sensitive virtual home button if your phone has one.

Lastly, get someone to call your phone, so you can get access to it that way.

When your phone is off

If your phone is completely out of battery, try plugging it to a charger and see if it turns on by itself. You can also plug it to a computer USB port to  see if it will turn on - it should work for some devices

Another option is to wait for the alarm you set on the phone to go off (as explained above). Also try accessing the phone's recovery menu - although most phones need you to use combinations of both the power button and the volume button, some other phone models allows you to is the home button and volume button combination. Make sure to check your phone model "recovery menu" on Google.

Lastly, try downloading and installing the Minimal ADB & Fastboot on a computer. Go to your phone, go to settings > about phone > software information and tap build number 7 times to enable developer options. Go back to settings, scroll down to find developer options and turn on USB debugging. (Carry out this process when your phone is on).

If you enable USB debugging and installed minimal ADB & Fastbot before your phone turned off, open your computer with the installed app and launch it. Plug in your phone through USB, type adb reboot and click enter. You can also try adb reboot recovery.

Note : This process will not work for all phones when they are switched off but it's better trying than nothing.
