Android Q Beta 5: Allows forced dark mode to apply to all apps

We expect Android Q to show up sometime in the fourth quarter of the year. Until then, several users are fortunate enough to see the progress of their new version of Google's operating system.

Google has already made four betas and just started fifth. On Android Q Beta 3, there was a feature that allowed users to force any application to use dark mode. However, it did not work well in several applications.

On Android Q Beta 4, the feature seemed to be out of order, and now Android Q Beta 5 seems to have returned and looks to work a bit better. "Force-dark" is in the settings under "System → Advanced Settings → Developer Options". At this point, the user must activate "Override force-dark".

Since it is not a feature of apps, the forced dark mode does not work ideally in all apps. Of course, there are fewer applications in Android Q Beta 5, although some do not even use Override force-dark.

For example, in Android Q Beta 3, the Google Assistant and Google Maps menus were black. In this beta, they do not respond and remain white. Of course, all this may be the result of Google having already incorporated dark mode into apps, so they do not use the build-in of the operating system.

9to5Google, who discovered the feature, says we will not see dark mode in graphics-intensive applications like games and applications that are based on specific frameworks like Flutter.

At present, it is not known by which criteria an application is affected by the dark mode. However, Google has one more beta before officially announcing Android Q, so we hope that by then force mode will be fully operational.
